Choice and opportunity for householders in north Oxfordshire continue to improve following another very successful year of new home delivery.
Statistics released by Cherwell District Council show 1,102 housing completions in the district for the financial year 2016 to 2017. Of these, 28 per cent (312) were affordable homes, by far exceeding the council’s own target of 190.
The number of homes delivered falls just 40 short of the target set in the 2014 Strategic Market Housing Assessment (SHMA). The level of affordable housing delivery sustains a sharp increase achieved in 2015 to 2016, when 322 affordable homes were completed, well up on the 195 delivered the year before that.
During the financial year 2016 to 2017, new homes completion were focussed on the district’s most significant developments including 231 at Kingsmere in Bicester.
