Gavray Drive is a 23-hectare site to the east of Bicester Town Centre which was identified in Cherwell’s Local Plan as being suitable for the provision of up to 300 homes. However in including the site, the local plan requires detailed consideration of the ecological impacts of development, seeks to protect the local wildlife site within the allocation and ensure the Conservation Target Area is not adversely affected. An Ecological Management Plan is sought as part of any development of the site to ensure appropriate management of areas retained for wildlife.
In May 2015, Gallagher Estates, Charles Brown and Simon Digby jointly submitted an outline planning application to Cherwell District Council relating to part of the land on the north east side of Gavray Drive in Bicester. The application proposes a residential development of up to 180 dwellings to include affordable housing, public open space and localised land remodelling. It also seeks permission for compensatory flood storage and structural planting. A decision on the application has yet to be made.
