More than a hundred jobseekers took the chance to learn about job opportunities in the Bicester area as the council job fair made its weekend debut.
Cherwell District Council held the Bicester Job Fair on Saturday, 10 February, to encourage attendance from people who may be out at work on weekdays, as well as those in between jobs.
Approximately 120 people came to talk to a wide range of employers and organisations, representing an increase of around 20 per cent on the previous Bicester Job Fair.
Over 20 local employers and support organisations attended, representing the leisure, catering and care sectors among others. In their feedback, 16 employers gave the event either four or five stars out of a maximum five.
The companies who ran stalls at the Bicester Job Fair included Absolute Taste and LAMPS – The Electrical Wholesaler, who were there for the first time, as well as Brandon Trust, Cherwell Care Services, Envigo RMS, Hello Fresh and McDonalds.
Alongside these employers were Aspire and Jobcentre Plus, offering support for jobseekers; and recruitment agencies such as Paterson Recruitment and Thorne and Wait.
The fair was held at the John Paul Centre and around 40 per cent of those who attended reported that they had found out about the job fair through social media.
Jobseekers who were unable to attend the fair are invited to the Bicester and Banbury Job Clubs which take place on alternate Fridays. The next Bicester Job Club is on Friday, 16 February and the next Banbury Job Club is on Friday, 23 February.
