Planning approval is just the medicine for new centre

Planning approval is just the medicine for new centre

A new diagnostics facility could boost medical provision in Bicester following a council decision.

On Thursday, 14 December, Cherwell District Council’s planning committee granted a change of use application for Unit A4a in Pioneer Square, to permit its development as a healthcare unit (class D1).

The applicant, InHealth, is proposing to offer diagnostic services and outpatient treatment to support general practitioners in the wider area. The unit would employ eight members of staff and be divided over two floors, with a reception and pharmaceutical retail area on the ground floor.

Under the scheme, local GPs would refer patients to the diagnostics centre; it would not be a walk-in clinic.

A staff area, outpatient treatment areas and consultation rooms are all proposed. The external changes required relate to the repositioning of the unit’s main entrance and a new fire door to the rear.
