Blitz sees Bure Park take a load off

Bicester’s Bure Park is ending January on a high after a council clean-up removed waste equivalent to the weight of two elephants.

Cherwell District Council’s neighbourhood blitz campaign ran during the week beginning 22 January and saw a team of six council street cleansers remove litter, flytips and graffiti throughout the north Bicester area.

They picked 860kg of litter by hand, 7,520kg using mechanical sweepers and a further 880kg of unwanted items through the free bulky waste collections offered as part of the blitz. This totalled 9.26 tonnes.

For information on how to report litter, flytips and other problems, visit: www.cherwell.gov.uk/neighbourhoodblitz or call 01295 227007.

To book a bulky waste collection (normal price £16 for three items) visit: www.cherwell.gov.uk/bulkywaste
